Re: I have renounced the Rotastak!

Haven't got him yet, decided to give up on that breeder because all he does is put the meetng off all the time :-( I want a russian dwarf which isn't a normal colour, anyone know where I can get one? I already have an albino one, so want something different!

Re: I have renounced the Rotastak!

I think I may very well be off to p@h tomorrow afternoon! Went to the one in Southport and all they had was 3 russians but all the same colour, what is this adoption centre that people go on about? Didn't see one of them at Southport.

When you go to p@h, do they have to do an inspection like the RSPCA or do they just sell you them but you have to give an address?

Re: I have renounced the Rotastak!

Yeah, Preston has an adoption centre and you just give them your address and explain about the hamster etc lol. They like you to either buy a cage from them or already have one set up. If you are lucky, sometimes you can adopt their cage aswell, that is if the previous owner gave it to them. I adopted 2 robos and they came with a Savic Rody...I was foolish and gave it to my sister and put them in a rotastak.

Preston do not have any in the adoption centre at the minute but they get their usual hamster stock in tomorrow and they are allowed to leave on Thursday. Go in tomorrow and if you see any you like try and reserve them.

I might go in tomorrow also and see what they have!

Re: I have renounced the Rotastak!

Got a cage for him already... had it set up bout 2 weeks! That breeder got back to me but CBA with him anymore. i'm going to save an unfortunate hammy and give him a second chance!

Any idea what time delivery is? I'm gonna go after my lecture bout 2pm to have a mooch! Would be nice to adopt him with a cage for back up, but I don't think thats likely!

Savic Rody's are quite expensive! Did you have to pay extra for it? What is the price of hammy's at p@h?

Are you going to get a couple of russians to live together?? I don't know what time delivery is no, but I know they get them in tomorrow and don't let them go until Thursdays so that they know they are healthy.

They only have gerbils in the adoption centre at the minute...

Basically, you pay whatever amount you feel is right...when I got the robos and the cage I paid £15 and when I got my Russian, Max, I paid £6. It all goes to charity so I didn't mind paying a little bit more!!

You could see if they have any at the RSPCA place in Preston...I can't remember where it is tho!!

Oh, and hammies are 2 for £13 I think...I can't remember lol...I know that they have just put up the prices on everything...whether this includes livestock I dunno!!

Re: I have renounced the Rotastak!

Only getting another 1, as not allowed anymore than 3 cos they not actually staying at my house, so not my rules...if it was my rules there would be many, many animals in my possession!

In my experience of buying them together, they didn't got on and had to be seperated pretty sharpish so not risking it again. The girls seem happy on their own.

Today I noticed Ella had been pulling fur out of herself, on the scruff of her neck it looks like hair has either fallen out or she has pulled it out herself. Doesn't look scabby or infected or anything, can just see her skin where hairs should be! Any ideas?

Awww, I have 2 boys together...there is some fighting during the night but unless there is blood I am leaving them to it.

How old is Ella? Just keep a close eye on her...if it gets worse then take her to the vets!

Re: I have renounced the Rotastak!

Ella is.... 13 weeks tomorrow. At first I thought it might have been due to a fight she had with Maisie (lol my mate said anything with red eyes must be evil - and i swear she is the devil reincarnated!) but that was ages ago... like about 3 weeks ago and I have only noticed this in the last week. She seems happy enough, gets well enough food - if not a bit much, plays all the time and it doesn't seem to be affecting her.
