Can you hand tame Robos?

I heard that they are really hard to hand tame. Has anyone got any tips?

Re: Can you hand tame Robos?

Are they boys? Boys spray and smell a bit more then females. I have 3. They are getting a bit tamer but I am way too scared to hold them outside their cage right now because one escaped though the bars of it's cage and I had to change their cage. I still haven't found her I disinfect my cages with animal safe disinfectant. I don't have any problems with them.

Re: Can you hand tame Robos?

I have 2 gerbils and 4 robos but one is under the bath at the moment and we are trying to bribe her out. The wost thing is when they come back sometimes the other one refuses them so I'm going to have to reintrouduce them.

Re: Can you hand tame Robos?

yes you can hand tame them my little boys are tame , they are just harder to handle, although saying that albert was never tame.
just do what you do with your gerbs or other furries you'll soon get them tame

My 3 boys STINK to high hevens try to just clan them out once a week as they will scent mark there cage... hence why they smell after only a day after cleaning

try buying some disinfectant cage cleaner

or Let your robo have a sand bath , they will soon be fresh... well cheri is lol

Re: Can you hand tame Robos?

mine don't really smell, am I just lucky? I clean them out about 2 times a week though and I disinfect the cage fully that might be why. The only one I have big problems with is Yui as she is very nervous since she got back from under the bath. The other 3 although are difficult to pick up are easier and Nuri is quite tame and will let you stroke her as long as you don't pick her up.

I love their personalities. Nuri is quite and caring, Tama likes to stay huddled up or jump on the wheel with the others. Hiro is quite and endeering. Yui is hyper and goes mad on the flying saucer lol.

Re: Can you hand tame Robos?

Ours are all tame.

The babies your getting have all been handled since they were around 2 weeks, and are happy with it, though rather fast!

If you want them to get use to you, the traditional method is sitting in the bath with them. Sit cross legged with a pillow on your lap in case they jump, so they have a safe landing. =]

Though if you are worried about the bathroom, try the bed. =]

We've had a little trouble with the dad nipping, but it doesn't hurt. Think he's just the aggressive type.

Re: Can you hand tame Robos?

None of the ones I have have been handled before I got them so I've been handeling them in the cage. But i'm trying not to get my sent on them too much because I just introduced them all although I will have to seperate the male out sooner or later which I feel bad for him because he's the most social out of the 4. Yui is starting to ajust into the group although she is a bit domaneering. If you could see them all now they are all cuddled up in a line of balls it's so cute!
I guess I'll start putting my hand in the cage to get them used to me in a week or so when they are used to eachother. I'm shocked that the intros went ok but I need to keep an eye on Yui because females sometimes don't except other females.
I'm looking forward to meeting the little guys
Not going near the bathroom because thats where Yui hid under the bath for 3 days when she escaped. I think I'll go on the bed and start with them in the cage just to get them used to it. I've calmed my gerbils down like that. They are really good. I think Sakura is a little jumpy but is getting more used to us now and Cires loves coming out of the cage and I handle them nearly every day. The Robos are by the side of my bed right now as I have to watch them to make sure no fights break out. They are so cute! I can't wait till I can put other things in with them!
