Hi everyone,
Im new here, my names Vicky! I was wondering if anyone could help me? I own a (very lovely!) chinese dwarf hamster, and since last night she has looked different. Like most chinese dwarfs, she's normally very slim, but since yesterday her tummy seems really bloated! She lives alone so i know shes not pregnant! She doesnt have any cuts or anything so i doubt its a absess? She has been eating and drinking ok and seems just like her normal self, just slightly more hunched as she walks. Has anyone got any ideas? Can they suffer from constipation? Im just abit worried about her and would really really appreciate any tips? Thank you!! x x |

Re: Im new! And abit worried about my hamster!
Just got back from the vet, was so worried because she was even fatter when i got home from work and her cheeks were all bloated too.
The vet said she was severely constipated and was lucky we didnt leave it any longer (my poor boyfriend came home to me crying my eyes out holding our podgy hamster! so we made a mad dash to the vet!) Have got to keep her nil by mouth for at least 24 hours (she'll love that!) and feed her laxative solution every 2 hours, so hoping it clears up!! Thanks for the advice ![]() |
