Mine came from Rachel in Reading

Symphony Rats Homepage

Rachel is fantastic and breeds wonderful rats exceedingly tame and will give newbies loads of advice.

Well done for asking and not going to a petshop

Re: Any rats needing a home

the best thing to do is go to the fancy rats site,
and have alook on the re-homing page lots and lots that need new homes.

that site is great for information too, i use it all the time.
(i'm owned by 4 rats!)

the site tells you everything you need to know about rats and more!

there site is,
Fancy Rats | Home

the forum is the best place to start, you could post a message saying that your after acouple of rats, you'll prob get afew messages back.
Fancy Rats • Index page

whatever you do.. Do Not buy rats from any pet shops, as they dont care for them very well...our first ever rat ended up dying..after 3 months of having him
Tribute to Branden
brandens page i made for him

thats before me and my boyfriend knew Not to buy from pet shops.

if your boyfriend has had rats before, i'd start off with 2, either 2 boys or 2 girls..
boys are more laid back, and girls run about more.

but if you want one of each sex, you can do that, but you must keep them apart..or you'll end up with more rats! lol
(i'd get the males de-balled, like i've done with our 2! as they live with 2 girls)

me and my BF keep our 4 rattys in a furet tower, lol
lots of room for them to go nuts in.

but i'd have alook on the fancy rats site first, before getting any rats..

hope this helps

(oh fancy rats is free to join, and they list breeders too..any colour you want! lol we got a blue rat back in june, and shes fab.
