Rat colour question

Hi,

I don't have a picture but I saw the most beautiful coloured rat over the weekend. He had a sort of bluey/grey colour coat with black eyes. He was yummy! To date I haven't seen a rat with that colouring.

Was wondering what the proper terms to describe this coat was? I'm only asking out of pure curiosity.

I can't have rats for the time being. I have too many pets to start taking on anymore, one person to 8 rodents - I'm at capacity.....they all need time and attention and I work full time it wouldn't be fair to take on anymore. Also I'm a bit nervous about rat bites! But, I still watch people with their rats on youtube and I still feel really jealous that I don't have any, and think they're awesome!

xxxx

Re: Rat colour question

I love the blue coats! Never met one but seen pics. Are you afraid of rat bites because of me? Please don't let that put you off! The problem I have is that mine are rescued and so I don't have any history of them. I know nothing of their lines. I know that because of what happened I wouldn't be able to breed from Chico (not that Ive ever had any intention to) but maybe one or both of his parents were a little bit on the psycho side and breeders bred from them anyway. If you were to buy from a proper breeder they will only have bred the rats because theyre healthy and have very friendly personalities. I've been unlucky that's all. I've taken in three rats I know nothing about and so when you think of it like that it's not that surprising lol. But I still love them with all my heart and although I had a wobbly patch over the weekend it was just self doubt that was the problem. It was never about them just that I was doubting if I was doing the right thing by them and being what they need. I still don't really know what I'm doing sometimes but I do know that I love them and I want to do whatever it takes to make them happy again and that I can ask for help and support from the lovely rat gurus on this forum and honestly that is a massive help!!

I don't regret taking them in. I'm still more than glad that I did! I love the little monkeys and I promise you, they will keep you laughing with their antics!! My oh offered Louie a little bit of garlic bread on Saturday. He turned his nose up at it. It wasn't good enough for Louie! He wanted the whole thing! So he jumped onto the coffee table and grabbed the half a garlic baguette and started to run off with it! You should have seen Louie and the oh tug-o-warring a garlic baguette!! He could have had it except he takes food behind the sofa to hide and I didn't want garlic trailed along the floor lol!!
