Holiday Cage For 4 Male Rats

At the moment I am trying to convince the OH half that we need 2 more rats because 4 is better than 2

Now, if we go away, my friend will be looking after the boys. Would the Freddy 2 be too small for 4 bucks for a week or would they be ok?
If it is too small, what would be a good cage to get?

The most we ever go away for is 6 nights so I don't want to spend unecessary money but I will buy something if my boys need it.

Re: Holiday Cage For 4 Male Rats

As a temp cage, if there's plenty of shelving and extra 'floorspace' for them, and they're a closeknit group, they should be fine in it

Re: Holiday Cage For 4 Male Rats

Thanks. If I can get my own way They will be arriving after this years holiday so will have plenty of time to assess how close they are. My friend has her own rats and we have arranged to look after each others when needed so they would get lots of free range time as well - obviously seperatly from hers

How's Bigboy doing? x

Re: Holiday Cage For 4 Male Rats

Awh that sounds like a lovely arrangement ^_^ wish I had rattie friends that lived closer.

BB's doing alright I suppose...trying to get him to eat anything but he's more interested in his own dry mix than the super duper yummy baby food that EVERYONE else is going mad over! Still, got him to take his banana flavoured meds hidden...on a banana...but he ate it of his own free will so I was pleased with that. I think he could well be feeling a bit sickly in his tum what with the abscess bursting, he probs swallowed it, and now the ABs will be messing up his stomach too.
I'll see if he wants a piece of toast with his Complan porridge and honey in the morning the things we do for these little guys eh? lol

Re: Holiday Cage For 4 Male Rats

LOL I forgot to give him the toast! But after I gave him his meds earlier, I directed him to the Complan/honey porridge with some natural yogurt in and he lapped away at that. I think he's a little more comfortable with a cagemate to shack up with.
Probably helps that I've put in a bit of a better bed too! I'm never prepared for these kinds of things lol
