A couple of weeks ago I heard a massive bang coming from the rat room. I rushed in there to find that the cage door had flung open and all the little ratties were escaping. I thought I must've left it loose or something, put the girls back and carried on.
Woke up next morning to escaped ratties.
So I began working on security systems.
I thought I had it cracked with cage clips, and then came home one evening to find them all escaped, but the clips had prevented them from getting back in, so they'd had no food or water all day.
And then another security system failed and I woke up to find Annie asleep in the wardrobe.

I knew Annie was the culprit. Everyone kept saying "How do you know" "You're blaming her and it's probably not even her"
I knew. And tonight I finally got my proof

Just incase you're wondering, I've fixed it now- all rattums are locked away nicely

For some reason I can't watch it on my phone but from what I can see it seems your not latching the door right as it's similar to my xl cage. That lip on the door each side should slip under the bars if u know what I mean. Thus not able to un do it.

Yes I figured that lol. My old cage you just push the clips in and it's locked. It only occurred to me about 3 days ago that I had to push them under again.
It lasted about 3 months like that until she worked it out though lol

I loved the photos. Funny enough I have a similar problem the latch has got lose over a period of time. Lucky for me the Rats in the cage are not as bright as your Annie I now push it in and under the above wire but it's a struggle to open it sometimes.. I have just got a Srs so my Ratties in that cage will be moving home shortly lol.

What a clever little thing! I'm dreading the day my lot work out how to open the Abode (it's a simple lift the bar and the drawbridge will drop jobbie) Shank may lead them on a naughty streak when she moves in with them D: She's the only one (with Lavi RIP) who has ever escaped.
Hope they're more secure now!

They're in nice and tight, for now lol.
I can see her working on it though. Plus, she chewed one of the bars off in the old cage. I honestly don't know how she does it. Anyone would think I didn't let them out!
