Dwarf Hamster Cages

Can anyone recommend a decent one?

My neighbours purchased their grand kids a dwarf ham for when they visit, and are housing it in what can only be described as a large carry case come cheapo fish tank.

Its bites, a lot, and now they want rid of it. Ive agreed to take it on, but the poor thing obviously needs a more appropriate home.

Re: Dwarf Hamster Cages

I'd go with a ZZ1 or ZZ2 with a meshed lid as you have so much floor space to put toys

Re: Dwarf Hamster Cages

Hey sweetie, so nice of you to to take he/she on.
I would suggest the zoozone 1. It's large enough to house a Dwarf hamster and will give it that room he/she requires for a wheel and to venture around in. The top of the lid will have to be messed but it shouldn't take too long. I have two Syrian hamsters and both are housed in Zoozone 2's xxx

Re: Dwarf Hamster Cages

Zoozones afe good for dwarfs, they need the bars at the top meshing if you have a partcularly adventurous hamster but the bars are in the lid so you would have to judge if you thought he/she could reach. They are really easy to mesh though, I use cable ties to attach the mesh.

Re: Dwarf Hamster Cages

I'd also use a ZZ1 or a Duna Multy, no escaping ZZ cages are often on ebay for peanuts

Is a Mini Duna suitable or too small?

Re: Dwarf Hamster Cages

Ive found a Savic Rody on freecycle, but im not sure thats big enough either.

I daren't have anything with bars, as i have cats, and although they don't have free access to the room where the hamster will be kept, it only take a split second for a paw to shoot out and a claw to make contact.
