Re: Quick question,cooked bones?

Mine have just had chicken bones cooked ones they love knawing down on them to get to the marrow.
Some people even feed raw bones.

I only give chicken bones though.
It's also a good way of giving them calcium.

Re: Quick question,cooked bones?

Yeah they're fine cooked or raw because rats grind rather than smash when they chew on things

Re: Quick question,cooked bones?

Thanks to some wonderful rat gurus on this forum I know the answer to this too and I've only had rats for 6 days!! Yes rats can eat bones because unlike cats and dogs rats grind their food so the bones wont splinter. Plus you can leave the bones in for longer than other food.

Thanks for teaching me so many rat things guys!!

Re: Quick question,cooked bones?

I give mine a nibble on lamb, beef & pork bones, but I do take them out after a short while as I imagine they would be pretty fattening. Mine have chicken, pheasant & turkey bones, although I've never given them raw, but I do have cats & dogs to think about & I think they'd be quite miffed about the rats having any of their precious raw bones!
