HELP!! Riley has a bad cut!

I feel so awful! I've just gone in to check on the rarities as I couldn't sleep and Riley was climbing the bars and as he was I bend down to say hello to him and I see he has a wound that looks like a slit in his throat area! It's not bleeding and looks like its been there a little while but I haven't noticed as he's so wriggly! Obviously he needs to be taken to the vets first thing which I will do but I just feel so scared for him that I just needed to come on here. Do you think Louie could have done it? I don't want to lose him has anyone elses rattle had this?

I forgot to say that he is completely fine in himself! Eating, drinking, running around and climbing.

Is Riley the naked? Sorry I forgot.
If he is then don't panic my naked has cuts over him from playfighting with the others.

But if it's a haired then still don't panic, some of mine have slight claw scratches on them. The only time u need panic is if u see your rats proper rat fighting like in a huge ball if fur rolling about the cage and lots of shrieking/screaming. Little squeaks is fine.

Or if they have deep wounds or blood over them then one would need to be de nutted.buy I doubt it.

I personally wouldn't not if it's a scratch, just keep an eye on it and u could always bathe itbin boiled salt water but cooled down just to be sure.

It's hanging open. It must have been like that for over a week cos I've not seen any blood in the cage at all. It looks awful xx

Could you take a pic of the wound and post it here. If its a gaping wound that won't close on its own then it might need vet care but rat cuts and wounds do usually heal very well and fast on their own. On a hairless rat wounds always look a million times worse.

Ok take him just to be safe. They may give him antibiotics.
Don't worry too much he may have caught it on something sharp.
