C&C cages for guinea pigs?

While looking for alternatives to our hutch I came across C&C cages. These look really cool - easy to make and customise and allowing more space than the two tier hutch for the guineas to run and play in the winter when the garden is too wet for them to play in. We have a shed with a large window in it. It's raised 5 inches off the ground and has a boarded floor with rugs on it. I thought a 3x6 would give a trio of girls lots of space to play and run while keeping them sheltered and safe. I could tuck the hutch along one side for them to use as well.

We could let them out of the hutch in the morning to play in the C&C enclosure and shut them in at night - with the hutch AND a shed door they should be safe from foxes whilst still having lots of free-ranging time - sort of like we do with the chickens.

Has anyone got any experience or suggestions for C&C cages? I'm not sure where to buy the mesh squares, other than eBay, but I'm sure they're be out there somewhere.

You can get the mesh from B&Q. If you get any from eBay check how many panels they're selling you as sometimes the photo shows more than they're offering.

Re: C&C cages for guinea pigs?

That is exactly my set-up except for being in the spare bedroom with the door shut so the cat can't get in at them. They are really easy to put together.

I got mine off of e-bay but the problem I had was that the company would only send a set number of connectors so I ended up putting the connectors all the way around the bottom and on the top corners but put a little bit of sellotape to keep the tops of the cubing squares together. I've got an old bed sheet down in their cubing pen to avoid little accidents on the carpet.

I think they'll be happy piggies.
