Re: Just to be clear!

Selling pets on here (deliberately bred or otherwise) isnt allowed but there are lots of breeders on here who love to show off their litters (luckily for those of us who like to drool over baby ratties )

Re: Just to be clear!

Hi!
You can chat about anything

I think you may have had a hard time because breeders ae trying to get clear healthy lines but if you have researched your lines etc then I personally don't see a problem if you know that you can get homes and keep any that can't find homes as it's so sad to see so many ratties free to good home

Have you got pics? I'm a proud owner of 9 does and 10 bucks no breeding here as most of mine are rescues with 4 pet shop rats and a few breeder ones plus I'd keep all the babies as no one would be good enough

Re: Just to be clear!

Same, I've no problem with breeders who are breeding to improve health and longevity, with a proper established line rather than just throwing two pet shop rats together (those kinds of breeders I could beat with a stick )

And I second TDM, you're not allowed to advertise deliberately bred pets on here for sale, but nothing stopping you showing them off. What variety are you aiming for? Do you have a rattery name yet?

Re: Just to be clear!

While you may not get your throat slit, intentionally breeding from rats that have unknown history as far as health or temperament are concerned (such as pet shop rats, rats from feeder breeders or rats from rescue) is unethical IMO & should not be encouraged, no matter how lovely the rats are. If you're serious about breeding then getting mentored by a good, ethical breeder is the best place to start.
Sadly there seem to be too many bad breeders popping up overnight at the moment

Re: Just to be clear!

Both my rats are in good health, i've a fantastic vet who is also a family friend, any young will always have a home with me, Both my rats were acquired from established breeders, they both have wonderful personalitys and no known genetic defects, if i were to breed it would be no means for money or re homing further than my friends and family, i'm not trying to pop out a million rats for abit of cash here, i care dearly for all my pets and like i said ive have the space and the time to care for all of them! it just something im interested in doing once, safely and as knowledgeable as i can!

Haha he's an absolute darling aswell!

I took him in from a polish woman on the isle of white, she worked every hour god could send and after he chewed the legs off her £300 love seat she'd had enough, he was quite thin and a lil depressed but i work from home so he's always had me and my two children for company, he hasn't chewed a thing and ive had him for over a year now.

I have no problem with breeders if they breed ethically, at the end of the day we need good breeders otherwise all we would end up with is rats bred from byb's and rodent mills
