Today Red went in to the vets for an op, she had breast cancer but as they were stitching her up she passed away
This leaves me with Black (inventive names, I know) now, do you think she will be ok on her own?

When we got back from the vets with Red, Black was limping with a really swollen foot, wouldn't put any weight on it. So we went back to the vets, she had stopped limping, made us look like a fool infront of him and was fine. He couldn't find anything wrong with her! Now we have her back home, she is limping again and not putting any weight on it. It's really warm too and seems to do this after resting, is she stiff? I just feel so bad for her, not a good day

As for Black, she may have injured herself in the cage and sprained her leg. They do tend to act fine when up at the vets, they do like to show us up

She won't be alright on her own, she'll probably be grieving, not to mention desperately lonely - human contact can never make up for ratty companionship, I suggest you try and find a pair of baby girlies quickly to keep her company. How old is she? And where are you located? I could help you find a rescue or breeder in your area if you need help

Well I'm hoping her leg will be ok, going to keep an eye on it and if it is still like it tomorrow evening I will go back to the vets!
We think she is around 3, she was a rescue herself and I will certainly look into it but with her being quite old I don't want youngsters! I live in York

They do seem to make us owners out to be liers sometimes dont they? Just keep an eye on her and if she shows signs of pain/discomfort or its not getting better/or getting worse Id pop her back

Awh, poor old thing Is there not any way you could temp foster a pair til Black passes? Then give the remaining girlies back to the rescue?
Wish I could have her, my two girls would love her lol, but I'm downsizing rather than giving in to my GMR!

That's quite a good idea, how would I go about temp fostering? I would much prefer to keep Black with me, I love her to bits!
