Only to a certain extent. They are life limiting because they compress the brain. Steroids can be given to reduce the size of the tumour, and there is another drug (galastop?) which can help. There is a good guide to PTs on the rat guide.

I hope I am to, but I know it's something that can cause a healthy rat to look very old in a short amount of time.

Re: Old rats

I found her cuddled up with her family this morning and she had passed in her sleep, just what I wanted for her. Cookie is devastated, shes lost so many family members recently and shes now the oldest girl Ive got, she was desperately trying to stop me taking Alice's body out of the cage and she wouldnt let me cuddle her, so out of character for my little Cookie . Dying too soon really is the only fault rats have . Night night Alice, I'll see you at the bridge my little teddy bear girl.
