Unhappy Smokey's ill

Got home from work after stopping at the fish and chip shop on the way. Sat down to eat and heard a strange squeaking sound. I assumed debris had got into one of the hamster wheels, but couldn't work out which one. Got half way through my dinner, stopping regularly to try and identify the noise and then worked out the squeaking was coming from Smokey's cage

Poor hamster sounded exactly like a badly oiled wheel . Phoned the vet out of hours and dashed her over there. We think she's got some sort of respiratory infection. She's on Metacam, Baytril and extra care over the weekend.

Wasn't as expensive as I feared out of hours, but I didn't really need a £72 vet bill right now.

I'm finally eating my reheated fish and chips now

Acorn died last week too He was expected though.
