Hamster help

Rosie Posie has developed a squeak She has never been a noisy hamster before. She is kind of sqeaky, wheezy in her sleep and then has periods of sqeaking lots. She is otherwise ok ?? I googled and all i could find was she may have some food stuck ? She did it for an evening and morning then was OK but it has niow started up again I wondered if it was a tumour as i know they are prone to them but she hasnt any unusual bumps and is ok to be handled

Going to get her an appointment at the vets but wondered if anyone had any ideas ? I moved her cage recently and that was when it started but i think the new position is a nicer one

Re: Hamster help

it might be allergies to something or a cold

is the new spot drafty or near things such as cigarette smoke, perfumes, furniture polish etc?

Re: Hamster help

Sounds like it could be the start of a URI, a course of Baytril should help clear it up.
What is she bedded on?

Re: Hamster help

Thanks for replying

The new position is out of any draughts and not in the sun, temepature wise its identical to where she was but just a little more central so life is a bit more interesting for her.

She has sawdust in the bottom of her cage but currently her bedding is a mix of shredded paper hay, some of the sawdust she has gathered and she also has Burgess Mountain meadow Herbs that make up some of her bedding. There is nothing new about this set up and we have had her over a year.

She had recently chewed up a nylony tunnel thing i put in so i took that out. She is still busy and foraging. I did wonder is it was respitory though because of the wheezing in her sleep. Trip to the vets i think

Thanks xx
