Re: help
Hi
Where are you doing the introductions and how big is the space?
Intros should be done somewhere neutral and then the cage they will go on to live in scrubbed to remove any lingering smells from its original occupant.
When you say they are fighting how bad is it? A little bit of chasing, mounting, rumbling, teeth chattering and nipping can be normal for introductions and does not mean that the guineas can't go on to lead happy lives together if the introductions are continued correctly.
At what point in the in intro process are they beginning to argue? Is it as soon as they see each other? How are you putting them together - are you putting them straight in next to each other or putting them at opposite ends with some food or veggies to keep them occupied?
In my experience some veggies in about 4 piles for 2 pigs works well - start them away from each other and let them come together in there own time - monitor closely while they meet and let them sort out their pecking order - unless blood is drawn try to give it a little time for them to settle. Once they have settled and are looking pretty happy somewhere neutral then move them into their cage. They will probably squabble a little bit for a week or so after but that is normal - again let them sort it out themselves.
