mange mites

hello my guinea pig has been diagnosed with mange mites i have drops for them etc but now im worried about getting them myself Sarcoptes scabiei cause the mange mites but they also cause scabies in humans so ive read but i also have cats. cewn we all get them from one guinea pig? advice please ive tried to ring my vet but she is out till 4.30

im sorry this has happened to your babies!!i would wash any clothes/cushions etc that the little ones have come into contact with and for the next week wash down any hard surfaces every time one comes into contact with also maybe clean out cage every couple of days until sure the mites have gone. . . . otherwise you may have problems. . hope this helps . . . dont let the cat in that room at all until clear!!!! hope all gos well x x x x

also wash your hands everytime you touch her and you should be fine!!!

You need to make sure that all fabrics get washed at at least 60°C to kill the mites otherwise they will just carry on living in them.
