Can anyone recommend a chew-proof sand bath

Ok my gerbils love their dust baths, they go crazy in them!
The only problem is I use strong plastic tubs atm and I know it's not ideal but I'm getting round to sorting that out, the gerbils haven't nibbled the plastic yet but I guess it's only a matter of time before they do.

So can anyone recommend a reasonably priced sand bath that's suitable for gerbils please.

Oh not those little ceramic critter bath things with ears as they dont look too roomy. My girls like to stretch right out and roll around in their sand, and when they stretch they are pretty long.

Re: Can anyone recommend a chew-proof sand bath

I wanted a metal sand bath for my gerbs, but they wanted 19.99 for one in the pet store! So instead I bought a loaf/cake tin for £1.49 from a hardware store, and it does the job perfectly. Plenty of space to run and flip over in it, cheap to replace, looks nice, chewproof, and fits nicely on the bottom of the tank topper I made. Simples!

In this world you may be gone
But in the next you will live on
And though we may now be apart
You'll always be there in my heart

For mine I got a stainless steel dog bowl! It's chew proof, just about deep enough, but not too big in their house. Plus they're normally only a couple of quid.

Excellent idea!
And I went with it.
Popped into tesco the other day and got a loaf tin for £2.10 and the gerbils are loving it. They did push it off the top shelf once but only once!

I use the little cage we got for our first pet, a dwarf hamster. Its one wi th clear plastic tops. It keeps most od the sand in. The sides are only chewed in passing by Jarhead. The rest just bathed in it.

Plastic is toxic to most small animals, you shouldn't ever let them chew plastic as it can kill them.
