So proud :)

Of my new rescue ratties

It's been four weeks now since they were found abandoned in a car park. They've been poked and prodded by the vet, taken to a new home, been treated for mites, been given two weeks worth of medication for respiratory infections, suffered me bathing their sore bumblefoot feet, introduced to three other rats, put up with me fussing over them... and they've taken it all so incredibly well

They've already learned the sound of the treat tin being shaken, they've discovered that mummy makes a very good climbing frame, and they're starting to realise that being picked up isn't really so scary after all
The mites and the respy problems have cleared up completely, the bumblefoot is healing well, and their fur is growing back nicely

The extremely scrummy Barclay (who is becoming very adventurous, and not a little bit cheeky )

And Orwell, the gentle giant (who always seems to look ever so slightly worried )

simplysardonic and TRW like this.

Re: So proud :)

They are stunning and you have every right to b proud of them, are these the same rats who had a lot of skin issues or am I thinking of someone else?

Thanks! I don't know if it is them, but they did have very scabby skin and thin, patchy fur when they were first found. They're both loads better now though

Re: So proud :)

Thanks for the lovely comments
Really though, they've done the hard work by being so brave and resilient, all I did was give them somewhere to live
