Introducing my cutest little fella Louie....

So I went to pick up some dog food from pets at home a couple of weeks back, and had a quick nosey in the adoption bit as you do
This little fella just stole my heart, but trying to think with my head not just my heart lol, I came home and thought about it first! Plus there was another two ladies looking and discussing where he could go at their house etc, so I really thought they would take him.

Anyway I went back about 5 days later and thought OK if he's still there I shall get him, as I had been thinking about him so much it was driving me mad!

He was still sitting there looking terrified at the world. Put up for adoption because he was very aggressive and un-handleable, and the previous owner had bought him for her son, but lost interest as kept biting.

He is 4 months old and just adorable.
He was terrified of everything, even going into the room he was in, made him fling himself up, and to touch him he would jump and run away like its all completely new to him. He has obviously been biting through pure fear alone, and not this aggressive monster he's been made out to be.

I have had him about a week and a half now and in all honesty he is coming along great IMO. I am taking it at a pace that hes happy with. After a couple of days to settle, I started by letting him get used to my smell on a tissue, then just placing my hand in his cage to smell, then giving food from my hand, then stroking his back while eating his treats lol! .....Oh it was funny the first time I stroked his back, he was eating a yogurt drop and so I really gently stroked his back. He jumped a little, stopped eating and just looked like he was pondering what exactly was happening. He sat so still I swear he was even holding his breath lol. But he accepted it and carried on eating. It was too cute!

He no longer jumps when I'm in the room, and in fact when I'm pottering about or doing something in his cage, he seeks me out, obviously hoping for a treat!
I cant wait for the day when I can pick him up for snuggles! and have him be happy with that.

Re: Introducing my cutest little fella Louie....

Sunshine used to scream when I first got her home

Sandy was very scared when I first got her, but turned into one of the most friendly hamsters

I got Starlite in early January. It's taken until the past month when she'd come up to the bars looking for a treat. She's strokable, but you certainly can't pick her up even now

Makes you wonder what they have to go through before they end up with you
