which is best Carefresh or Megasorb?

I have been using Pine Shavings in the roborovskis cage but i notice her scratching quite a bit-could this be an allergy to the shavings or due to Mites?

Does anyone use Megasorb or Carefresh? What are these products like?Which is best?

Re: which is best Carefresh or Megasorb?

My chinese hamster was allergic to woodshavings so i've used both carefresh and megazorb and found both very similar, the megazorb was probably a bit more dusty. I use the carefresh now because I could only get the megazorb 85L bags and she seems fine in the carefresh. Mites could be a problem if the are really scratching excessively but they can be hard to, if impossible to see but you could use a treatment even if it is preventative, something like a spot on containing ivermectin.

Re: which is best Carefresh or Megasorb?

im using carefresh at the moment its ok both the mouse and rats seem to like it
its kept the smell down from my male mouse he was being cleaned out every two days (i dont like even a slight smell of wee tbh) and ive realised that its been 4 days since his last clean out and it still smells nice!

its quite expensive but if you only have one cage to clean out it would be fine for prob 3-4 clean outs depending on thickness (i like it thick!)
