Poorly eye

A few months ago I took Yoshi to the vet for his eye because it was cloudy and they prescribed a cream for his eye, fucithalmic, so I used it but his eye looked like it got worse so I did stop after a week. He seemed to be acting normal and the swelling had gone down but recently he has been acting funny. He just runs round his cage in circles constantly and when I get him out on the sofa he just runs round in circles with his bad eye facing in so I guess it's so he can always see if anything is going to attack him. He is always so frantic and his eye has got quite bad and i'm worried he is in pain.
Also I think he may have lost weight over the last 2 weeks, I did try to weigh him today but he just would not stay still but I will weigh him tomorrow.
Here are some pics so you can see the difference, the first one is what it was like and the rest are what it's like now well its quite easy to see how bad it is.
Also this is a video of him running around the cage, he does this every night.

Sorry its not very clear but i recorded with my phone.

Re: Poorly eye

Hi and wecome!

Am sorry about your gorgeous hamster! Cloudy eyes can be the sign of cataracts, but this is rare. From the look of the eye and the eratic behavoiur, it m#looks more like an eye infection, which is treatable with anti-biotics. Do you have a rodent/exotics specialist vet near you? They will be able to properly diagnose it...but even still I would get him to the vet asap...cos untreated he could lose his eye or worse

Also just to say that cage isn't really big enough for a full grown Syrian so maybe when he is better you could treat him to a bigger one. There are loads of cheap but suitable ones on ebay

He...even poorly...is a gorgeous hamster

Re: Poorly eye

Its a 3 tier cage.... its this one
Fun Area Leon Small Pet Home: Great Deals on Small Pet Cages at zooplus
It is rather spacious although I am getting him a new cage anyway, preferably a one floor cage or the hamster heaven.
Also no I don't have any vets that specialise in small animals but I think I will try going to a different vets.
