Looking for a female degu - Merseyside area

Hello

I bought a lone female degu today and she seems quite lonely. According to her previous owner, her female partner died a couple of months ago. I have read a few sites about socialising new degus and wondered if anyone has a single female that needs a new home

Thanks

HAve you tried the RSPCA? They may have a degu, or know of someone that's got one looking for a home.

Re: Looking for a female degu - Merseyside area

As a quick update, I just thought I'd let you know that I did get another female through the Pets at Home store in St Helens. It was through the adoption services for a "donation" of £15.

I intoriduced them to each other in the bath and they seemed to get on well. I decided to add them both to the main cage and there has been a fair bit of grooming and chirping so all seems well. Most of the grooming is coming from the older female who we already had. The newer one, Daisy, is only 3 months old

Re: Looking for a female degu - Merseyside area

A really sad bit of news is that the older female, Rosie died tonight. I heard a thump from the cage and turned around to see her lying at the bottom. I assumed that she had fallen from the top shelf in the cage but she seemed really out of it. I went in to check on her again later and found her lying dead in the bedding. A closer look at her right eye revealed that she had taken one hell of a knock on the way down.

I'm really gutted and not looking forward to telling the kids tomorrow

Although we didn't really have her for that long, she will be sorely missed by us all
