Calling all rat owners *waves*

i'm a wee bit worried about my oldest rat (1yr old) custard.

his fur (or fluff as i call it) looks very tatty his eyes etc look ok and hes not lathargic no change in his behaviour aall he seems happy and healthy.

is this cause for worry or am i just being silly
or is it just a case that rats do mault hence his scruffy appearence???

if its nothing to worry about can i do anything to bring the condition of his coat back?

Re: Calling all rat owners *waves*

He is a buck, does his skin look orangey? or flaky. And does his fur seem greasy? Bucks get something called Buck Grease which can give there fur a scruffy, unhealthy look but its justtheir hormones and some bucks get it and some don't, it all depends on the rat.

Otherwise if he is itchy he may have mites, check his fur for lice or anything creepycrawly lol. mites you can't see but check near the neck, under the chin and behind the ears for scabs, this could be where the mites are and so he will itch till he gets scabby.

It's not a big deal if it's mites, just get some spot on or the visit the vets to get an injection... the spot on is cheaper hehe

Love his name lol

Sorry im a little confused do we force them to live down there ? most rats are found above ground not below, Its our fault we have so many wild rats yes.

Ive got 6 lovely little bundles of cute rattness ( well 2 arent that friendly but i love them ).
