How should i prepare my rats for the show

In April im going to the NFRS rat show. I was just wondering how should i prepare my two girls, should i bath them, brush them? I want to make sure iv got everything covered. Is there anything i should do to prepare myself for the show anything i need to take, etc.
Thankyou in advance.

You don't have to bath them unless they are visibly dirty.

You are expected to have cleaned their tails and clipped their nails. I use baby or small animal shampoo and a soft bristled toothbruth to clean the tails. I use 'human' nail clippers as I find them easier to use than the ones designed for small animals.

On the day, have some baby or small animal wipes to hand to freshen them up with.

I have never shown at an NFRS show as they're all too far from me, but the NERS require you to take your own substrate for the tank so don't forget that. Also take with you some moist food for them to nibble throughout the day (cucumber is ideal).

That's about it really. Some people like to feed oily foods the day before to make the coat nice and shiny, but a shiny coat isn't necessarily a good thing. I would give a protein rich food source in the morning before the show to set them up for what will be a busy and stressful day.
