Rat shows How do they work?

Hey everyone,
i am a biased rat owner i think my rats are gorgeous. I would love to show fellow rat owners my babies, i was wondering how it all works, what happens, how much does it cost to enter, how long do the rats have to stay in there tank, where can i buy a showcasing tank, etc.
Thankyou for any advice.

You are expected to register your rats for the show before hand. You can buy tanks, but you can also rent them for the day for the cost of a couple of quid.

If you are a member of the society/club that is hosting the show you are going to then you will pay a little less.

If you show in varieties then your rat's colour and markings will be considered. If you are showing for pets then it doesn't matter if their markings are skewed or their colour is off - their temperament, attitude, tractability etc are the main considerations (though these aspects are important for showing in varieties, too).

There are also agility classes, which I've never entered my rats in - but I will next time as they look like a lot of fun.

Rats will have to stay in their tanks all day so you need to bring with you something moist for them to nibble on (cucumber usually) and subtrate to keep them comfortable.

Usually there are stalls selling goods, raffles, see-and-do tables etc.

Shows are a great opportunity to meet other rat lovers and to gain experience and sound knowledge regarding the fancy.

Re: Rat shows How do they work?

You will usually have to travel for shows...my closest is Preston which isn't that close at all >.<

You could possibly train your loopy rattie for the agility in future maybe? Look it up on Youtube to see what's possible! Ratties are just so clever!

Where do you live?

My nearest show is Preston too - a good couple of hours away.

Re: Rat shows How do they work?

You're probably best looking at getting to an NFRS show, then
