Bin cages for gerbils
Has anyone used bin cages for gerbils? Presuming all goes well I may hopefully be adopting 2 or 3 gerbils (rescues, breeder wanted to dump over 30 of them in a field
 ) in the coming week/s. Don't know anything about them yet as Im waiting for them to get back to me. Im planning on keeping them in a plastic bin cage which is 2 1/2 foot long, 1 foot wide and about 15 inches tall, the lid will have a wire grid on it. Would this be suitable for them? If I see any signs of chewing I will get a glass tank, but Iv gone over the inside of it and there hopefully shouldn't be anywhere for them to get their teeth around. Is it big enough for 2/3? As I said Im waiting for a person to get back to me so I don't know anything at all about them yet except that most of them are fawn or white. Hopefully it all works out ok, Iv 3 names picked out already!  Here's some pictures of the box.

What would worry me it how quickly they can chew, I keep mine in glass tanks for this reason, I did have them in a zoozone for a while but even that had me worried. I cant belive the stupidity of some people though, what the hell did they think would happen to gerbils in the british countryside? Well done for taking them on.

I wouldn't recommend keeping gerbils in anything plastic as they are record chewers and diggers. They need to be kept in glass tanks with a sturdy lid
