The boss just doesn't understand...

and by boss I mean the damn mother!

It's my birthday tomorrow (finally 16.. ;/) and I'm buying a brand new cage for my goo's, a late Christmas present ;P but my mum is complaining because she wants me to spend the money on myself, and I was like 'the cage is for me.. well it will be mine anyway' and she complained some more, anyway my point is I think I've caught GMR (;[) as all I can actually think about is rodents, seriously it's getting on my nerves, I want all types of animals, I've asked my mum for rats (big no!) mice (also big no!) hamster (yes, but I decided against it for reasons I won't disclose) a ferret (ye, like I had a chance) and finally the one I REALLY REALLY want, two more Degu's!! But I think we can all guess the answer to that question, NO! as I'm getting a new cage I will have a spare P@H cage and when we move (seems to be taking ages...) I'll have my own bedroom and so I thought I'd get two girlies. It's so frustrating, she just doesn't understand, she calls my Joe and Olly rats!!! she actually said it to my dad when he came over one time and now that's what he calls them, and my step dad does... I am very annoyed. Rant over.

Btw the asking for animals thing is kind of a joke I played on my mum, believe me I would never get all them rodents, lol I wouldn't cope.

Re: The boss just doesn't understand...

I get told off all the time for buying cages, why dont you make everybody happy by buying a cage off ebay and you would still have some left to spend on yourself, you can get some lovely bargains if you look around, I got a Freddy cage for £10 yesterday, will you be keeping all the goos together (once bonded) if you get more? What part of the country are you in? I can look out for a nice bargain cage for you. Happy Birthday for tomorrow btw, are you doing anything nice?

Re: The boss just doesn't understand...

Are the degus you already have male? if so having 2 females around would be a VERY bad idea. If your degus are female and you are interested in getting 2 more females you need to be careful. The smell of other degus around (esp of the other sex) will upset your degus at first.

I would also like to say that at 16 years old your mum knows best. If she says no, then its a no. Think about it, degus can live about 6-8 years or more, by then you will at least be 24 years old. If in 2 years time you decide to go to university what will happen to the degus? If you work full time will you have time for them still? If you are certain about it then thats fantastic! but please do think about it xx
