My little boy Lenny (degu) is off the vets tonight for his check up
Hes my little diabetic rescue degu who needs a blood sugar test every couple months to check hes happy and healthy

I got Him and his brother (leo) in November and since then ive let him settle in and get use to me and his cage etc but now its time for him to have his check and im soooo nervous for him! I know everythings going to be okay as he is happy and healthy but im still worried!

Happy thoughts for my ickle babies please! Leo is going with his brother for support as i didnt think seperating them would be a good idea xx

We're home

Oh my days ive never been so embarrassed

The lino i put in the bottom of the cage, they both ate and threw over the floor of the vet! They threw poo in the waiting room. Lenny hid for most of the wait but Leo said hello and squeaked at a dog which made the dog jump!

Then we all went into the vets room and both Lenny and Leo had squashed themselves into a snuggle football and wouldnt come out!!! I managed to get Leo out and the vet had to take Lenny for his test while he was still in the football snuggle!!!

Lennys glucose level a day or two before i got him was 6.6
A normal degus glucose level should be between 4 and 5
Lennys glucose level today was a low 2.1

This is good as its low Its very low at this moment in time because he hasnt had his tea yet. Hes just having his tea now though so by the end of the evening itll be back up again making it to about 4ish So the vet said he was perfect!!!

Weve healthy cheeky degus she said and everything was fine xx

Im glad all is well, i never doubted that he would do well now he has a well informed and loving owner

i'm glad all went well though it sounds like the boys had fun times at the vets!

just out of curiosity how big do degus get?do they get as big as an adult rat or are they smaller?the ones i have seen look quite big and chunky/heavy.

i'd love a pair but my oh says i have enough caged animals
