Re: Mice
I know another member who lives in Devon and shes had a terrible time trying to get hold of some mice, if you find some in a rescue though they are usually really good at arranging transport. Diet wise Zany Toon is a good person to send a pm to, she makes her mice a diet (similar to shunamite), if you are wanting to buy a shop baught mix be prepared to remove the peanuts as mice are often allergic to peanuts so it isnt worth the risk.

Re: Mice
Thanks for that, I have just found a simalar post re the peanuts,wo will be avoiding them,Are there details on the net re the mouse mix,I do feed my rats a variation on the shunamite diet,so making up a mouse mix, shouldn't be a problem,I will pm and ask for details.
I have been searching rescues, but no luck as yet, I am happy to wait though, I thinl its your beautiful mice and great cage set ups I have noticed on here. |

Re: Mice
For mice the biggest cage you can get is a good option
Bars are great because they like to climb but you need to be very careful in terms of bar spacing - most adult mice are fine with 1cm bar spacing (such as on the Freddy rat cages, Hamster heaven) but if the mouse is small they can get out of that. If mice are very small most cages can be adapted using mesh like TDM's cages In terms of diet a good rat muesli (try to get one with a protein level around 14 - 15%) is ideal, or you can make it up - mine has rabbit food, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, marrowbone dog biscuits, puffed rice, cornflakes, lentils, canary seed and a few other things so it helps keep them healthy and helps keep their coat nice and shiny. In terms of treats - broccoli, strawberries, cucumber (all in tiny amounts because the water content can cause diarrohea (sp.)) vegetable based dog chews (mine love these, and I managed to get TDM's mice addicted to them too They are also handy from the viewpoint that it helps to keep their teeth nice and trim Buy Crocodile Dental Care Dog Chew - Healthy Vegetable Treats for £0.99 from Pegasus Pets Morecambe) porridge (made with either kitten milk or water, NOT ordinary milk), sweetcorn, hemp seeds, sunflower seeds. This website is very good, it is a breeder who has put it together and a lot of breeders refer to it to - it also has a list of common ailments and problems you might face Fancy Mice and the website All About Mice is very good with information on pet mice and reviews from mouse owners as to how good some products are ![]() If you are looking to rehome mice, there are 2 members on here (Mickelmarsh mice and AnnaT) who run rehoming centres and have loads of mice in. They have been able to arrange transport before to other areas so it might be worth getting in touch with them ![]() Hope that helps!!

Re: Mice
I feed mine a shunamite style diet too. They have P@H rat nuggets mixed with various cereals (Tesco value cornflakes, puffed rice, shredded wheat, pearl barley, oats, flaked barley and so on), rice, flaked peas, dried insects and shrimp, herbs, dried veg. etc.
ratRations.com, Rat food, base mixes and herbs is a great website for food, but you must feed at least 50% (5 cups in 10) commercially prepared food (human cereals/dog food/rat food/rabbit mix) or you will have to use supplements regularly
