New Mice Owner

Hey all!

A friend of mine is wanted to get some mice and I knew this would be the best place to come for advice!

We've both only owned robo hammies before so neither of us know any specifics for mice.

This is the cage she wants to use (the stuff in it is mine- I'm swapping my cage for her Furplast mini duna because we know mice like to climb and my robo hammie is old so isn't that active)

Would this cage be suitable for a couple of mice? I really just don't know what size cage they'll need and what size holes the'll be able to squeeze through.

Any other tips for a new mouse owner would be most appreciated!

Re: New Mice Owner

I would say that the cage is on the small side but tbh I do tend to go for huge cages so I might be wrong there, the bar spacing would be what really worries me about it though, young or smaller mice could get through the bars. Are you wanting a couple of females or 1 male as males tend not to stay together without fighting (I have to say they seem to be more people orientated though)

That's what I thought. =/
I think she wants a couple so probably females. I'll chat to her and see what sort of funds she has for a bigger cage.

Rabbit cages that are meshed are amazing mouse cages, the larger hamster cages with narrow bars are very expensive so meshing cages is a really good way to go.

Re: New Mice Owner

Wickes has stopped selling the excellent stuff, but Ive heard on the grapevine that homebase sell some equally as good, although I havent tried it yet.
