Re: Skinny rat help???

didn't read all of other thread but you might want to check he's not got worms or other parasites?

other than that if he's the runt keep an eye on him, although he'll no doubt be a criminal genius (all runts are) it'll take him a while to discover that he is infact the brainiest rat in the colony. so until then he will need some extra help in getting food (if not due to health issues).

definately,as already mentioned, feed him separately, either at the same time or before you feed the others. don't separate him completely from the colony, only do it during meal times or he'll get lonely.

when you want to reintro him to eating with the colony whenhe's not quite so skinny do it slowly and with supervision or he may not eat properly again if he's too timid to shove the rest out the way.

good luck, he's well cute!

How would I check for worms? How old can you apply spot on treatment? Might be worth as a preventitive. Thanks he really is!! xx

Re: Skinny rat help???

OK update now. Caspar has nice big normal teeth He is in a box with lots of goodies...at first he seemed more scared...but he is now eating the mix. Hoping I'll see him eat some of the kitten food and the egg...but at least I know he can eat
