Say if the rats can't come then you're not, then if she doesn't give in give them away, butr as a last resort!
My mums the same, she is so annoying! Grr

My mum was exactly the same, happy with my gerbils and hamsters but never a rat! Until the day I got them anyway and she came round to them then. Shes even managed to touch one of them since and is very happy with them living in the living on her treasured sideboard
 hope your mum gets to love them as much as you do !
