I'm so sorry little one..

I am devastated to be writing another thread like this so soon.

I am so sorry little one

At about 8ish this evening I went out shopping, we were out a bit longer than planned because of all the snow we had a struggle getting up the hill from the carpark.
Anyway, when I got back I started to feed everyone, I then noticed that mini milo didn't come out to say hello like usual, so I checked his house and he wasn't there.
I then noticed that he had managed to chew the water bottle hole big enough for him to squeeze out (he was tiny so didn't take long).
So then I went on a mad hunt looking for him, knowing that he had to be in that room as it is my animal room so I know it is secure...

Well what I found next will haunt me forever and I will never forgive myself.
One of the rats (probably Zuess as he is the dominant buck in that group) had grabbed him by the neck and dragged him into their cage and killed him.

I am so sorry I failed you little man, it was love at first sight when I met you, I was told you were a biter but the most you did to me was lick my hand.
Sleep tight until we meet again xxx

Re: I'm so sorry little one..

Please dont put this on yourself hun, it was an accident pure and simple, a chain of events thats all, Im so sorry you had to find that but the rats were doing what comes natural to them and it would have been very quick. Run free at the bridge Milo xxx

I would never blame the rats, thats the first thing I said to my OH, as you said they were only being rats. Although I have decided that hammies will now live in my bedroom, rather than the animal room. That way it will never happen again..
It wasn't Milo hun, mini milo is the lil guy that I got from furry friends after Milo (I called him mini milo because my OH actually got them confused when he first turned up, I didn't even have the chance to give him a proper name )

I can sympathise with you totally, I had a herrendous accident where the cats knocked the mouse cage over and managed to kill one of the mice, its a horrible thing to come home to

Re: I'm so sorry little one..

RIP Little one...
Real sorry about this.. But I think we all have accidents like this at one time....

I looked after my ex's dog in the summer and it killed one of my mice.. It was a very sad night and I couldn't stop blaming myself.. and I look back and think if I had known it could of happened would I have done things different.. and my answer is yes.. If I'd have known the dog could do such a thing...

I don't keep the hamsters in the same rooms as the rats... In fact everyone is on a separate cabinet... As I did have an incident where Neeco got out and she went to Freds cage and they bit each others toes....
