Myth will become famous soon enough
* Gabber Shelf Warning * Stuck Hamster...

Thought I'd post this up here as well as I know a fair few of you have hamsters, not sure how many have Gabber cages though. I know I've read similar posts to what I'm about to write, and freak accidents happen but still feel I should share my nightmare experiance.

Last night I went to bed at silly late o clock but took up some leftovers for the hams. Good thing I did as it took me all of 2 seconds to realise Ace of Spades had got himself well and truely stuck in the small round 'window' hole in his gabber shelf. He'd got so far through to just before his back legs, and couldn't squeeze free forwards or backwards.

Luckily I keep all my tools and stuff in my ham room for making and modifying cages etc otherwise I would have been well stuffed. Got my big pair of wire snip clipper thingys and managed to cut him out of the shelf bit by bit - took around half and hour all told mind. (not made any easier by him being a super fluffy longhaired lump)

WHY on earth he'd try and sqeeze through that comparativly tiny hole anyway, I'll never know. Guess I credited my hams with more common sense than to try such crazy things. Just glad he's OK and glad I went to bed so late - and had reason to go see the hams again before I went to bed. If I hadn't...well it doesn't bear thinking about.

The size of him and the size of the small round hole on the left ???
WHY and HOW he squashed himself so far through it baffles me !!!

HORRIBLE experiance thankfully Ace seems none the worse for it this morning.

There were a couple of seriously scary nasty moments, he went totally limp at one point and I really thought he'd gone into shock and had given up. Also spotted blood which really scared the *ahem* out of me (but it was OK - it was mine. Plastic can be evil sharp !)

All my gabber shelves are now out much to my hamsters disgust, not that I care after last nights trauma. I do have a plan however which involves pringle tub lids and glue...

Well there you go, you have been warned. Even if you think your ham wouldn't try something so darned stupid please think again !!!

I guess you can't have beauty AND brains huh !?

Glad he was OK! Scary experience. I've just thrown my Gabber away, well, most of it anyway.
