They arent all allergic but the redness of the skin sounds more like an allergy than cushings which sort of makes the skin hard and crusty, I would definately knock peanuts out and see if they make a difference (fingers crossed). Every time I see a balding patch or a bit of missing hair on a hamster I panic and think Cushings too though.
