I would love to work out how to securely fix a cage onto the top of a tank, I want the gerbils to have 3 of 4 ft tanks with tank toppers but I cant work out how to fix them on just in case the cats ever got into the room. That is a fantastic cage but its still only 80cm long and Ive got two groups of three and one group of two gerbils and I would love them all to have huge environments.

Gerbils need tanks because they like to burrow, a normal hamster cage is no good for them and it's full of plastic and they will eat their way out of it in minutes! They need a glass tank with natural/edible materials inside such as wood

They are the P@H ones which I hate, they're plastic at the bottom (although its quite strong plastic) and they have bars on the flooring which they can break their legs and trap their tails in....... so no good for my little princesses

Yeah I keep thinking of just going to the pet shop and buying a cheap hamster cage and just fixing the top of it to my tank.... don't know what your tank lids look like but mine are wooden frames with metal mesh stapled into them, all i'd need to do to fix a cage on is to tie it down to the mesh with cable ties and just check/replace them regularly in case the gerbils chew them

unless you can get some form of metal tie to stop them? Other than that i'm not sure! I'm sure there's a better idea out there somewhere but I haven't thought of it yet

tbh i havent looked at the measurements of that tank, was just gonna do it later to compare with the one i have - it looks mahoosive in the customer photo things and it comes in 2 or 3 sizes.
