decided

to build by own cage for the boys! currently have a really big cage for them but it only has a shallow tray and im fed up of clearing up their mess from outside the cage!! so i have been looking at homemade rat cages and like the idea of the kitchen cabinet ones!! anyone done this?? too ebay for a cheap one i thinks!!

just remember that wood will soak up pee and will stink so you'll need to cover the floor with lino of some sort.

yes i did think of this! and that will be sorted!! am currently thinking lino on both floors and a lip of the stuff round the edge. toys ect all around.

the door will be so that the frount will be avary mesh so obviously the little things can breath! oh and so i can see them!! but how will i attach hammocks?

maybe staple some chicken wire to the roof and if its split levels then at the top of each level so u can hook the hammocks on?

i have a friend who did this .... she had problems gettin the lino to stay put
she used you know that plastic book cover you can buy in loads of colours its just like sticky back plastic....
she used that in a couple of layers
worked a treat! and it enabled her to have the pink floor she wanted lmao

and hammocks.... screw in coat hooks or stick on t towel holders

glad i could help
she covered all the inside in it .... so everywhere was water proof.... floors, walls, ceilings, ladders the lot her two ratties were messy little bugger though! :P

nope nothing.... ill ring her tomorrow and find out what other useful stuff she's added recently
i know a while ago she added another double unit onto the side .... which is awesome its now like a rat mansion :P
