Re: Please .. some one help my Genia Pig :(
from doing a little research i came across one of the first vets in Yemen i suggest you contact them via there website and see if they can help at all.
موقع الدكتور علي Ù…Ø*مد الشاطبي - الجمهورية اليمنية Looks like an ear infection to me seen it happen in mice and rats and it can quickly become worse if not treated. Last edited by Yorkshire_Rose; 02-11-2010 at 09:17 PM.. |

Re: Please .. some one help my Genia Pig :(
I would also say an ear infection , i have been breeding cavies for over 20 years and have seen this a few times , the vet there might not know much about cavies and what to treat them with so i would suggest you ask him for baytril , bactrim ,and also pediactric septrim can be used for them. Also feed the cavy some natural live yoghurt each day whilst it is on the antibiotics , this helps to keep the gut flora healthy

Re: Please .. some one help my Genia Pig :(
I wondered if it could be a stroke? Probably not though but just a thought.
![]() Yes baytril is usually the antibiotic given to guinea pigs and is completely safe for them. Hope you can get hold of a vet soon. ![]() Yes I think it's most definitely an ear infection.. http://www.oginet.com/pgurney/ears.htm Last edited by Jazzy; 03-11-2010 at 08:42 AM.. |

Re: Please .. some one help my Genia Pig :(
David, feel free to pm the OP the dosages but would you mind pandering to my paranoid mind and removing the dosages off the open forum?
Pretty pretty please. I understand that this person is in a foreign country without access to a vet, but this is an open forum and members of the public can and do read these threads. I know personally of a few cases where medication dosages have been posted and people have bought medicines online from spurious sources and killed their pets. Its just not safe to post them in the public eye.
