Thumbs down Hamster Toilet Help!

Dear Pet Forums!

I have 2 chinese dwarf hamsters who i love to bits!
I bought them a toilet because i think they are great! they reduce smell alot and keep the cage brilliantly clean. All of the other hamsters i have had in the past have used their toilets and both the hamster/s and me have benefited.
However these little guys i have now just refuse to use it!
They wee in their wheels instead. At first i had only one wheel which they weed in but to reduce dominance i got a second wheel and they wee in that too. The other wheel is over the other side of the tank and they still only wee in the their wheels so it isn't the fact the wheel is in a specific area, its the fact its a wheel. I tired wiping a tissue around the wheel and placing the tissue in the toilet. They wee'd in the toilet once each after doing this but once only over the course of two weeks. After that once they just wee'd in the wheel again. I then put toilet litter in the wheel's, sloshed it round to get the send on it and then tipped it back into the toilet and washed the wheels. But the same thing still happened!
I can't move the toilet to where the wheel is because there isn't enough room because of the glass shelves in the tank. One time i saw one of them get on the wheel, have a wee then get off it. And i've tried everything i know to get them to use the toilet but they simply wont.

Any idea's?

Thanks
Tom.

Re: Hamster Toilet Help!

Erm sorry don't think there is much that can be done. How old were they when you introduced it? I would just wipe down the wheel daily to keep down the smell. xx
