Maybe the books are wrong

Hi there my name is kazallandegu and i've only had them for a short time to get right to the point what i want to know is why do the books tell you one thing and in the real world it's wrong the books keep telling me that degus love this and would bite your hand off for this but it never works like that I would love to know what you feed your's and also if you have some home mDE FOOD THAT YOU MAKE UP YOURSELF also what types of tree's that they can climb up are safe ? I have 5 females and one male not all in the same cage but any titbits that you can let me know about would be of great help

I think when the books are sayin one thing and people are telling you another thing that you need to take it all with a pinch of salt and draw your own conclusions.
