Gerbils needing homes

I replied to a 'free to a good home' ad today to get a female gerbil with the hope to bond her with my lone gerbil Marge. When I got there I found the three adults (two male and one female) and the 6 babies living together. Their owner isnt a breeder but she belived the pet shop when they told her the gerbils were all boys. She is desperate to find them all homes, I think I might have found a home for the adult males with a very kind person off another forum but the rest of them need homes urgently. If anyone thinks they can offer some of them a home please let me know and I can try to arrange transport to get them to you. They are all very friendly and let me handle them with no worries.

Re: Gerbils needing homes

I have enough room in my cage for one more but I don't think the brothers would be too happy with an introduction... Not sure if it is a good idea, what do you think?

Im told that boys are easier to intro and Ive (fingers crossed) managed to intro my own two boys but I wouldnt like to say that it would definately go ok for your boys. I have managed to get a brilliant home for the possibly pregnant girlie and shes going to her new home tomorrow, Im almost certain the babies are all boys so that leaves two adults and three babies (all boys) They seem really happy together though so it would be nice if they could stay that way but I think its unlikely that someone will offer a home for all 5 boys together, Im not willing to let any of them go to be lone gerbils but I think they could be split into smaller groups if anyone is interested.

Are you sure there's no female pup?

I am looking for a young female to introduce to my lone female but don't have a tank for another pair sadly.

Sorry hun, Im fairly sure they are all male (well as sure as I can ever be with my track record). Ive sent two male pups and the mummy off to their new home today and the remaining pup and the two adult boys are settling down well with the help of some toilet roll tubes. So I just need to find a home for those three and Im done .
