a regular houdini...

got woken up at ten to six this morning (which any other time would have been ok but i had a day off and was planning a lie in!) by rustling... Ash had managed to escape out of his cage, cross the room and got behind the bedside table! His cage was still fastened up properly all apart form the hole in the mesh tied onto the top, but i didnt think he could reach that! this is the first time. Popped him back in, turned around and he was sitting on the top of his cage! So i put him back in, covered the hole up, went to go and wash his bottle off cause i had dropped it came back and he was back ontop of his cage! so i took the top off the toy that he was climbing on to to get out shut the lid and before i had put the lid on the side, he was out again! he just climbed over half the toy and jumped up and grabbed the top of his cage, got out under the mesh on the top! so i took the whole toy out, shut him back up and then watched him as he did the same off his actual house! so yeah, now he has hardly any toys in his cage and what he has got are in the middle of it...

ive only ever had one other escaping hamster before!

Re: a regular houdini...

yeah, im still not impressed though! he's blocked himself into his house with bedding now though, so think he tired himself out

cant wait to be able to afford to buy him a new cage, then ri can be upgraded to ash's cage.

he can't - he's got no toys in his cage

im loath to put him back in his old cage though because its the ferplast mini duna and he's currently in a zoozone type cage (i dont know what cage it is buts its an indoor small guinea pig cage in the zoozone style) with extra mesh over the lid which he is now an expert at escaping around...

Re: a regular houdini...

im not impressed with him at the minute. cleaned them out earlier so both were out for a really good run, and was nice and changed Ash's cage around so he had some toys in it again... and im sat here watching spooks on the iplayer and see the silly furball running along the room under the radiator

now he has no toys again

*sigh*

(and hi zany *waves*)

Re: a regular houdini...

At least he hasn't gone into hiding. Maybe time to try a new cage?
