Unhappy Do hamsters react badly to change?

Last night I went up to feed my crew only to find Charlie is really skinny!!! It terrified me. I had not got him out the night before as I was trying not to handle the hamsters cos of my tummy bug.

Anyways I have no idea why! He went for the food bowl and put everything in it into his pouches and deposited it in his bedroom. This is normal...though he doesn't usually go for anything.

Now two things have happened.

1. He changed cages...went into a 3 tier imac fantasy. He seemed fine...but I remember someone posting about did they need to transfer their hammy into his new cage gradually. I sau#id no.......but should I have done?

2. Roma got ill and is in my hospital bathroom. It is the warmest place in my house and I have had quite a few animals recover in there. Her cage was within a few feet to his...so could it be that?

He is eating, drinking and running fine.

Also is there any food stuffs that are good for putting weight on a hamster?

Thanks!

Re: Do hamsters react badly to change?

How old is Charlie? My Marley is 18 months old and he has lost weight. I think it is normal as they get older isn't it? he is fine eating, drinking and playing the same as ever. I have changed my hamsters cages a few times with no problems at all. I don't think u should worry unless he stops eating and drinking.
