Bickering piggies

Hi all, I have had my guinea pigs for a month now. They are around 1 and were rescued from a centre. They have been together from babies.
Since we got them they have bickered, not really aggresive just the little one (Dougal) takes great pleasure in running and crashing into to poor Teds bum, and sending him flying. Or he nudges him in the side and growls at him and chases him. Ted sometimes retaliates but often ignores him, Ted doesnt seem frightened but sometimes he screeches as though he is annoyed! Like i say it has never become nasty, just Dougal being playful and a pest!!
I am going to try seperating them for a few hours a day, but i will have to put something in the pen so they can still smell each other. In the past i put one in the hutch and one on the pen but they became distressed.
Will this sort itself out? People tell me its because they are teenagers but I feel sorry for Ted, his little friend is always annoying him! All day from the pen we hear rumbling and growling and annoyed squeaking! I want them to get along and am worried this will escalate into something more. Any advice would be appreciated

Re: Bickering piggies

Firstly I was was advised when I got my two boys that

1. Make sure i get 2 of everything....bowls, bottles, toys, etc

2. Neutering doesn't stop aggression between males in piggies.

If it is not serious then I would advise making sure you have 2 of everything. I have no idea if it would work but maybe picking up the "bullied" one for cuddles and ignoring the "attacker" to associate the action with a negative consequence. But the latter is just an idea...not something i was advised.

Good luck
