Smile My new darling (russian hamster)

Hi,
I just met my cute hammy 3 days ago at my birthday <3 I fell in love from the first look
there is just one problem, My cousin who bought me him from the pet store doesn't know anything about him.
After CRAPLOAD of research i learned alot about my baby, since he is new i didnt want to pick him up and check his gender.. I just saw him while climbing the cage bars and he is a boy :S
now what im missing is his age and type.
Can you guys tell by these pics?

-----------------------------------------
One more thing,I am so paranoid that he is new and i can't play much with him ( he gently bites me when i handle/give him food ) that he will get lonely and bored, So is it ok if i get him ANY other type of a russian dwarf? or it has to be the same exact breed?

Thanks for your concern and im sorry im new to this the only pet i ever had is my lovely Derby (tortoise) who i still take care of for 6 years.

EDIT : oh and I would love some tips for raising a hamster for the first time, thank you in advance

Re: My new darling (russian hamster)

I got two new russians this week. I think it's probably too late to get him a friend now, he's used to having all the cage and being on his own. Mine were paired up when I got them.

He looks very cute

Re: My new darling (russian hamster)

It's a bit hard to tell from the pictures but he might be a winter white Russian or he could be a Campbells. They are usually the two species that you can get in pet shops.

Have a look at this link and scroll down to the Russian hamster pics and see which you think is like him. Hamsters as Pets - National Hamster Council

Re: My new darling (russian hamster)

Yeah I have winter whites and they look similar to yours...he looks smaller which winter whites tend to be. But it's so hard to tell as he could be winter white, campbells or even hybrid (mix of the 2) as I think these are the only types of pet hamster that can breed together. xx
