Arrow Degu Fighting?

Hi. I have two male Degu's who have always got on together great, they have play faught in the past but never hurt each-other. Last night however they were fighting each-other, lunging at each-other and rolling into a ball together, the one who looks like is being more territorial, making more noise and seems to follow the other a bit of the time is coming off worse and has small wounds on both sides of his face/neck.
I have read up to the internet about fighting degu's and decided to put the injured one in a smaller cage within thier 4ft cage so that they can still see each-other and interact with each-other, I then left them over-night - they still seems to be agitated by each-other and squeeking alot this-morning.
I don't really want to have to seperate them, but if I have to then I will, what do you think the next step is?

Kelly
