Still missing you little molly.

It's one year today since my beautiful British long haired Molly passed away.
It's a day which i will never for get.
It all started on the 7th Oct when she just was very quiet and hadn't eaten or drank anything all day. She just slept up stairs on the landing. That evening she started to gag and she brought a little bit of water up. I mentioned this to my OH and he said we will get her to a vet you will only worry all night. So we rang our vet and because it was out of hours we were told if it's an emergency to ring the PDSA, which we did. We were told to see the vet it would cost us £90 anything else would be extra. The vet asked us a few questions and checked her throat. He said there was nothing obstructing the throat, he felt her tummy and said he couldn't feel much as she had too much fat there. This was not true she just had a Persian coat. His attitude was horrible he had a couldn't careless attitude he just said this could be one of a hundred things such as cancer or tumors. He did mention blood tests but the way he was put me off and decided that as she wasn't gagging anymore i would take her home and the next morning we would get her to our own vet.
That night she still never eat or drank anything and she never slept either!
The next morning our vet wasn't pleased that the PDSA vet hadn't even checked her temperature. He noticed her nose was running and thought that she might have a virus, so he gave her an injection of convenia and dexa fort.
That afternoon she seemed a bit better. I managed to get some water down her and later she eat some sardines. She fell asleep outside in the sun. She looked so lovely. Later i had to go to work and my OH looked after her. He said that evening she seemed fine.
When i returned home about 3AM she was sleeping so i never stroked her or kissed her as i didn't want to wake her.
In the morning when my OH was leaving to go to work he shouted for me to get up quick. I though his car wouldn't start. I ran down the stairs to find he had molly in his arms.
She had just died. We tried to bring her back but it wasn't to be.
We were devastated and i couldn't work for days after. She was our youngest and always full of mischief.
I think of her every day and miss her lots.
I really hope that one day we will met up again.

Re: Still missing you little molly.

hello Jill, oh that is so sad, i really feel your pain, they say time is a great healer but its really hard especially anniveraries,i'm sorry you had such a bad experience with the PDSA vet, that was awful, after all you were worried sick and were seeking help, and we put our trust in the professinals to take the appropriate action, i would have thought taking a temperature would be one of the first things to be checked.i expect he not a regular there perhaps a locum, anyway whatever he was its no excuse for a bad attitude.
Anyway just to let you know i'm thinking of you at this difficult time xx
