Lily.

I felt like I needed to post here as I have been keeping a lot of upset about my cat Lily inside. Here's her little story;

We got Lily when she was a kitten. She had been abandoned in a cardboard box on the side of a road with her brothers and sisters, all their eyes were infected... And unfortunately, as she was the 'runt', one of hers was infected so badly that it had to be removed... That didn't detract from her absolutely beautiful coat and face.

I was young myself, and the thing I remember about her the most from those times was that she was INCREDIBLY tiny. I had a himalayan rabbit at the time who absolutely adored her and they were the best of friends.

She had been with me through over half my life, which includes my teen years where she's had a lot of tears cried into her coat. Her favourite spot in the world at night was right next to my head on her own pillow at night, where she'd purr while I fell asleep.

My seal point siamese Maia is a year younger than her, and when we got her Lily instantly took to her and became 'mum'. Lily has always been very affectionate with new animals in the house.

Friends who came around have always said that she's the favourite of theirs, as my Siamese have only really bonded with me whereas Lily always ran up to anyone who had a smile. Her purr is possibly the loudest i've ever heard in a cat.

Last month I noticed something a little off about her. She'd spend all day in her fav spot (my room on the bed - her pillow) and when it came to dinnertime in the afternoon she'd come and stand at the top of the stairs staring down rather running to get her dinner with the rest. I didn't think too much of it as she had started to be 'old womany' from the beginning of the year and has never been brilliant with her health. I just picked her up and carried her down each time.

A couple of days later, she had developed a breathing problem. The deterioration was incredibly quick, and she died on October 9th. I was there with her when she died naturally in her own home on her very favourite spot.

It's so distressing to lose someone who's been with you for such a long time in your life. My heart goes out to anyone in the same situation as me right now. Her special pillow beside me still feels very empty.

Re: Lily.

Thank you for sharing Lily's story. She obviously had a wonderful life with you and I hope that you can look back and smile at all of the happy memories you have of her. Sending you lots of hugs ((())) and hope that Maia and Moth help to fill the empty space.
RIP Lily

Re: Lily.

Thank you both. Really

Thank you Lynn, of course, Maia has not been coping too well with the loss of Lily either but we're all okay in general.

I can definitely look back and say that she had a lovely, fun life with me after such a poor start, and spoilt to bits... And at least I still have my two meezers and my dog. I have a lot to be thankful for.
